I don't know what's in the water over there in the United Kingdom (UK), but it seems like every girl in the UK was born to be a makeup artist (MUA).

Every time I hop on TikTok and see a stunning Black girl with a flawless base and an undetectable lace, you can bet that the British flag or 'UK' is proudly displayed in her bio. I'm not ashamed to admit it—I get super jealous!

Thankfully, the UK beauties are more than willing to share their makeup secrets and tips with us American girlies. This is my third attempt at UK Black girl makeup, and I'm not giving up! I'm determined to achieve that flawless base and undetectable lace.

But before we dive into my review, let me introduce you to the world of UK Black girl makeup.

Shout out to Hannah London! I loveee this tutorial!!

UK Black Girl makeup is a favored makeup style among Black girls in the UK. The essentials for a UK 'baddie' look usually include bright concealer, a smooth matte base, nude or pink gloss lip combos, and hair that's absolutely laid to perfection. It's the perfect recipe for a stunning look, and I've been obsessed ever since!

To achieve this look, you'll need four key things: a good concealer, quality setting powder, a brown lip liner, and plenty of patience, especially if you're new to this.

Here's the tutorial I followed and here's how this attempt turned out:

The shorter version can be found on TikTok (follow me!!).

So, is this viral trend Hot or Hype?

I'm going to say it's HOT!

It's a practical and sensible look that doesn't require you to do unnecessary things like using a spoon or a high heel to conceal your face (to all my fellow OG 2016 makeup enthusiasts, I know you remember those days).

Honestly, my third attempt wasn't too shabby. I believe what's holding me back might be my choice of products and shade matches. I've noticed I might look a little yellow and ghostly with this makeup, but overall, I think this look is pretty. Just as I mentioned in my TikTok, I'm not giving up! One day, I'll achieve this flawless look. But until then, you can find me practicing and perfecting my skills.

Have you tried this beat? If so, do you think it's hype or hot?

Until next time, babes, xx. - Jaelyn <3 (Signed off like a true UK babe, lol)
